iCal Calendar sync with iCloud Calendar

I am moving from Google calendar to iCal and need some help. I have imported my Google calendar into iCal, but now that I created new calendars (to make different events different colors) events are disappearing. For example - my Google calendar came over to iCal under one calendar (one color) and when I change it to a new calendar (new color) the event disappears from iCal. All of my newly created calendars are checked. I tested this and events created for the first time in iCal do not have this issue.

How to I get all calendars to show at once on imported events?

Once iCal is all straightened out, how do I get the what I see on iCal to show on iCloud calendar? I need iCloud to match iCal so I can add events from my PC at work.

Then finally - I want to add either the iCal or iCloud calendar (because at this point they will be the same and either can be updated) to my iPhone.
