Hello, I am going to receive a new iPhone 4 to replace my old iPhone because my lock button of my old device isn't working. I was wondering as to how my phone number will be transferred to my new device? And do I have to reset my old phone before sending it back to the manufacturers? Thank you.

Thank you for your help! But the first link still doesn't example how my phone number will be switched over. Will it do it automatically? Because I share an account with my family, how will it know that it's my number that will be transferred/ That's my question.

Before you do anything with your old phone, and when you rceive your new one, call Apple Support as you will have phone support with your new device. 800-692-7753 they should walk you thru poeting your old# to the new phone. I was not able to find anything that directly addresses this specifically in the database (does not mean it is not there, I couldn't find it)
