Q: Why has Storage and backup option in Settings/iCloud disappeared from my iPhone?

I have an iCloud account that works perfect with my iPad. But not from my iPhone. The "Storage and backup" is not visible as a selection in my iPhone under Settings/iCloud as it is in iPad. I can not set up iCloud in my iPhone by going inte www.icloud.com. I have latest update software and I have done "Restore iPhone" via iTunes in my MacbookAir. How can I set up iCloud again in my iPhone when there is no selection possible for it? It worked previously.

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3

Are you sure the iphone is logged into icloud?  Settings>icloud, look at the top line, is the account listed?

Yes, the accoutn is listed and I have written my Apple Id there several times to be sure. And it works to log in there to see my iCloud-account information (Storage plan and payment information). The strange thing is that further down in  Settings>icloud,  below the list of E-mail, Contacts etc where you select on/off, there is no line telling  "Storage and backup" to be clicked on like on my iPad and on the iPhones of my friends. It must have been there before since everything was working fine a few weeks ago. How can it just disappear?

You might try rebooting the device - press home and power buttons until the Apple icon appears.

Do you have a work account (email/contacts/calendar) sync to your phone?

I do, and even though that app's FAQs said a backup would still work, it obviously did not for me....

I uninstalled the app, did my first backup (now that the option was available), then reinstalled the work app.

    Hope that helps you!

Thanks a lot. I have reinstalled my iPhone from scratch (had my calenders etc in iCloud via my laptop and iPad an retrieved them from there) and the Storage and backup option was back again. Now I reinstalled my work email (Traveler) and the Storage and backup option disappeared again. So that was obviously the cause!!
