I noticed my iPad 3 had a half inch scratch this morning. I have been using it for a year and taken good care of it. Unfortunately, The scratch might be produced 3 days ago when it fell face down on a table. Any suggestions on how to repair? Does Apple store provide screen repair service? Thanks in advance for sharing experiences!

Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task. Start with Google to search for these.
Scratches on the screen are not covered by warranty.
if you have applecare+ you can use one of your incidents to obtain a replacement.
Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace (Apple doesn't repair) your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below. (The replacement will most likely be a refurbished iPad in a brown box, however, it has a new screen, back and battery.)
