how can i access my movie rentals from my apple tv?

Here are the instructions on how to move a rental to the AppleTV that was rented on a computer. They are from an article named How to rent a movie from the iTunes Store on your computer found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1390.

Once the rental is downloaded, you can watch it on your computer or transfer the rental to a supported iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV (1st generation):

1. Connect the device and select it in iTunes.
2. Click the Movies button.
3. Select the movie, and then click Move.
4. After all movies have been moved, click Apply in the lower-right corner of iTunes.

You must be connected to the Internet to transfer a rented movie.

I have purchased Great Gatsby on my computer. But on Apple TV when I select movies it says I have not purchased any movies. Home sharing is set up.

If you do not have a 1st gen AppleTV, you cannt transfer it to the AppleTV.

You need to rent it on the AppleTV.

Or you can AirPlay it from iTunes to the AppleTV.

Select the AirPlay icon and AppleTV in iTunes next the Play button then Play the movie.

Thank you Chris. It is surprising that with home share or iCloud I cannot watch across devices.
