Sony XDCAM Log & Transfer plug in

Hi Folks,

I have the Sony XDCAM L&T plug in (version 1.2) installed on both my Mac Pro running SL and my Macbook Pro running ML. Now I can ingest footage from my SonyEX3 using L&T. The plug in doesn't actually show up in L&T preferences but it still transfers (rewraps) to the QT XDCAM EX3 codec without a problem.

I use another forum and have a guy on there telling me that , with the plug in, there is an option in L&T preferences to transfer XDCAM footage to Pro Res.

So, my question is, does any one else use this plug in and am I correct in saying that there is no option to transfer to Pro res ?

By the way, this is not to be confused with the Sony XDCAM Transfer utility app.

There is no option to convert to ProRes. There is no "Log and Transfer" plugin for XDCAM...in the FILE>IMPORT menu there is XDCAM, and that will open the XDCAM TRANSFER UTILITY. You can only bring in XDCAM as XDCAM. If you want it as proRes, you then need to convert after the initial import, with Compressor or media managing or other utility.

I use the XDCAM transfer utility mostly but have used L&T succesfuly with my EX3 footage, although it doesn't have the options that the Transfer utility has.

I am aware that I would need to convert to Pro Res after import, I just need to confirm that there is no option in L&T to ingest to Pro Res.
