I am having a problem sending zip files. It has been working fine before but recently it has not been posible. I always send to the same person, who has been receiving without problems before. The zipped file is 5,2 mb and generated in windows via WMWare Fusion 5. I have no problems if I use Gmail, but in Macmail it is not working.
Any good ideas?
It is not even being send. After trying to send an error message asking me to try and snd later og to try and use another outgoing server appears. But nothing helps.
The zip file is a backup from Microsoft Financial Navision. And as stated in my question it has worked just fine untill a week ago.
If by Gmail you are talking about using the Gmail website interface to send the emails then there is no problem with the zip file itself. Gmail will stop any file that has a execute file inside of it.
So this leave another glitch in the built in email program for mac. When you say it won't send what exactly happens to email you are sending? Does it get to the recipient but without the attached zip file? Or does the email just get lost in cyberspace, out of your email program but not received by the recipient at all?
So what is happening is the mail app can't connect to the gmail smtp server to send the email. This seems to be a fairly common problem with the built in mail program. One minute it works, can send emails, the next it can't find the smtp server for various email providers like gmail or yahoo or suggests the password is incorrect even though you haven't changed anything.
From what I read on these forums about the only way to correct this is to complete remove the account for the mail program then recreate it. Make sure you remove all smtp entries for that account also.
Maybe you should try a different email program that doesn't have these constant glitches that pop up from nowhere.
If you are using icloud then why are you going to gmail to send the emails. You must also have a gmail account. Try sending from that account.
Sorry but you aren't making a lot of sense. If you are sending emails through the apple @me@mac (icloud) account then why would you use gmail for testing.
icloud as far as I know has a website based email system. Why not use that for your tests.
I am using Icloud. And I am able to send other emails without issues. But maybe I should try to remove and reinstall my account.
