Cannot turn on AppleTv with remote.

I'm having some weird issues with AppleTV.

Is I use the remote, the Apple TV light onl blinks and never comes on.

If I unplug the HDMI cable and power cable it comes up to the screen with all the apps of the TV that are available.

But when I try and use the remote to get to the screen to restore the AppleTV to the factory settings, pressing the MENU and other buttons never reboots the device.

If I use the remote, it controls the iMac volume in the same room, but not the AppleTV.

I don't have any problems with my other AppleTV Device.

Any ideas?

definitely sounds like a remote pairing issue (bluetooth devices sometimes get confused). See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1555 there are instructions that don't require accessing the menu item.

If it's not a pairing issue, it's possible the battery could be low but you iMac doesn't require as much of a signal.
