Hello! We just brought home a brand spanking new MacBook Pro to replace my husband's old dinosaur (G4 Powerbook). I unpacked it and discovered that besides the Magsafe Power adaptor, there is also NOW another AC Cord included in the box. WHY? Is it now recommended to use this extra AC power cord as well -- for extra length or more protection or what?

That should be a cord you can attach to the charger in place of the duckbill plug. Gives you options on placement of the charger.

The extra cord is just for length. If you don't need it, there's no need to use it! I think I've used mine once or twice since I've had the computer!
It is for both. It adds extra length to the power cord but also has a ground plug.
