FindIt? Cataloguing files on CDs

New here. My first post -- I hope it's in the right place. Mac user since 1986. JUST got a new iMac (actually it will arrive in a couple days). Now I'm preparing to change from my old G3 (with OS9.2) to OSX. Question of the day: I have a software that came with my Iomega Zip Drive called "Findit". I've used it for years. And I use it daily! It catalogues the files on a drive or a CD or zip, then creates a Findit Directory --- so I am able to locate any file on any of the many many CDs I have on a shelf, as long as I know the name of the file (or partial name). It tells me which CD to select and there's my file. Is there a similar cataloguing software I can use in OSX? Iomega's site wasn't helpful. Got any suggestions?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.6), iBook G3

I too loved and used Findit for many years, but doesn't work w/OS10. Have tried many other programs and one called CD Finder is the best. It easily imports your find it catelog (almost automatically). It is a shareware program that you will have to pay $40 for, but well worth it. It is a significant improvement to Find it. It will catelog OS10 drives as well as CDs, Firewire drives, DVDs. The developer is still very active and constatly making improvements. You can find the download at versiontracker.com or twocows.com, or go direct to http://www.cdfinder.de/

Good luck
