rotating text in Pages

hi - is there a way to make text in a table in Pages to run vertically, ie to run from bottom of page up to the top of the page?

Thomas,

That's not really a function of rotating text; that's a formatting issue. The one way I can think of to do it (others may have additional ideas) is to use a text box. Make it skinny enough so that the text wraps after the desired number of characters. You didn't specify how many, but it could be as few as one character. Lastly, type out your text last character first, then next to last and so on, so that it looks like this:

o
l
l
e
H

Is that the effect you're after? I'm not sure why you'd want text going from the bottom of the page to the top, but I'll assume you have your reasons.

Hi, Thomas,

If you are after a true rotation of the text, create it in a text box and from the Wrap Inspector uncheck “Object causes wrap.” Next, hold Command and select the text box. You’ll see the curved arrow indicating rotation. Rotate text to vertical. Then go to your table and hit “Return” enough times to enlarge the cell enough to fit your text into. Now drag the text box into the table. However, if you now type into that same cell, it will overwrite the text box with your vertical text.
Good luck,
Walt
