Macbook Pro MC724LL/A Ram Question

Hello,

I want to install one Ram with 8GB and another one with 4GB at the same time( in order to have 12GB of ram). Does it work this way or do i have to install two RAMs with the same GB cpacity?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

You do not HAVE to install matching size ram modules in an MBP but the two have to have the same specs otherwise. If you are going to the trouble of opening and replacing, it would be much smarter to put in two 8 GB modules so there is no question about matching. Be sure to get the memory from reputable sources like OWC, http://www.macsales.com or Crucial, http://www.crucial.com
