Q: unable to boot, get a flashing folder with a question mark!

I can't boot my MacBook Pro , all I get is a flashing folder with a question mark. I can insert a install disk but when I get to the install, I get a message saying I need to restart the computer. Is my hard disk drive bad? Any help would be appreciated.

Best I can see, hard drive has failed! None of the above solutions resolved my problem.

It will have to be replaced then.

Install/upgrade RAM or storage drive in Mac's
