Can I watch a rented iTunes movie on my MacBook Pro on an airplane?

I will be flying tomorrow and was wondering if I can watch a rented iTunes movie on my MacBook Pro on the airplane. I have read if it is set in airplane mode that I can, but I want to be sure and was also wondering, if I can, do I have to watch it through a special app besides itunes. Any help or information would be great. Thanks!

I have had a great deal of trouble watching iTunes movies on airplanes. Each time I try, I have the movie the fully downloaded on my MacBook. Yet, when I am in the air and try to get to the movie, I am instructed to connect to the iTunes store. In this last instance, I even bought a gogo flight package … and it still didn't work. I don't know what is going on. Maybe HD video is too big? This is really frustrating.

If you're asking if it's possible: Once the movie is downloaded to your mac, you should have no problem watching it while your computer is in airplane mode. Also you do not have to use some special other app- you will be able to watch it directly from iTunes.

If you're asking if you'll be allowed to watch it on the plane: Absolutely! Obviously bring headphones, and as mentioned above you'll have to have rented it prior to getting on the plane- when you still have internet access. But once, you're allowed to get electronics out you can absolutely watch the movie. I've done it many times!

Have a safe flight 🙂
