why does iPhoto slow to a crawl
every time I open iPhoto 9.4.3, not just iPhoto, but everything slows to a crawl. How can I fix that?

Don't know - any more hints or details you can supply
How much RAM does your system have? How much free disc space? Do you get a spinning rainbow ball or is everything just slow? Have you run Activity Monitor and checked to see which program is slowing things down?

Thanks for your quick reply:
2GB RAM
46GB available HD space
I get the ‘spinning beach ball of death,’ that’s what I call it.
Just started up the Activity Monitor, iPhoto is consistently in the top five spots of %CPU time used.
Thanks,
Klaus
2 GB of RAM is probably the issue - if you run only iPhoto is it better?
For example I have 8 GB on a several year old Mac and sometimes it slows down if I do too much
