stream current TV full episodes from computer through apple tv to Samsung Smart TV

I was told that I could stream current TV episodes from my I-Mac to my Samsung Smart TV using Apple TV. I installed Apple TV, but it is not appearing as an option on my Smart TV.

I've been reading. Am I correct that I have to stream through I-Tunes? I-Tunes charges $ 2.99 to watch current TV episodes which are available for viewing on my computer for no charge.

Is is possible to stream from my I-Mac to my TV without using I-Tunes?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6), also Macbook Pro

Yes you can. Not sure what you mean by its not sowing as an option on your smart tv. You connect the device via HDMI and navigate to the correct input using your remote. You can then use home sharing to view content stored in your computers iTunes library

If they reside somewhere else you can use mirroring. Native use requires a recent Mac (2011 or later) running Mountain Lion. Otherwise you can use 3rd party software like Airparrot
