May 29, 2013 1:13 AM in response to Devon MacVicarby Terence Devlin,You don't buy iPhoto for Mac from the iTunes store, only from the App Store.
What version of iPhoto is on your Mac?
iPhoto Menu -> About iPhoto?

May 29, 2013 1:19 AM in response to Devon MacVicarby léonie, install iPhoto 9 and use iCloud Photostreaming
To use Photo Stream and iCloud you will need iPhoto '11 ( version 9.3.x) not iPhoto '09. The version numbers are rather confusing.
when App Store says it is already installed?
Do you see it in the AppStore as installed, when you sign in with your AppleID, but you cannot update it?
Backup your computer and you iPhoto libraries.
Then delete iPhoto from the Applications folder, or from whereever it is installed; you do not need to empty the trash. This way you will be able to put iPhoto back.
Sign into the App Store with your apple ID and reinstall instead of update.
Does that work?
If not, put iPhoto back and try with the other AppleID.
Regards
Léonie

May 29, 2013 3:31 AM in response to léonieby Devon MacVicar,Sorry for confusion: I am talking about the latest versiion of iPhoto '11, which is 9.3.x. I have backed up my photos, and deleted iPhoto '09 (8.x.x.) from the Applications folder. Yet when I try to install from the App Store, it still says 'Installed' on both the Apple ID accounts we use.

Then the reason the App Store is saying that it is installed is because it is, right? Or am I miunderstanding you?

May 29, 2013 3:40 AM in response to Terence Devlinby Devon MacVicar,OK - I've just restarted, and did a Spotlight search for iPhoto. I have just upgraded to Mac Mini server, and it had installed it on the server HD- how to confuse me! So it is there, and is now working, but on the wrong disk! I can cope with that for the moment...
Thanks for help

May 29, 2013 3:46 AM in response to Devon MacVicarby léonie,Search, if you have more iPhoto versions:
- Open a "Finder" window and type the key combination ⌘F.
- Set "Kind is" to "Application" and enter "iPhoto" into the search field.
- Set "Search" to "This Mac"
Do you see any iPhoto versions?
To remove them from the Applications folder press ⌘⌫ and enter your admin password. You cannot simply drag them to the Trash.
