Drop new album on icon, iTunes does not queue up songs in "up next"

This has to be a bug, but maybe I'm missing something.

In iTunes 11 (all versions, but I'm currently running 11.0.3 (42)), when you drop an album folder onto the iTunes icon in the dock, the album is added to your iTunes library and a song from the album (generally track #1) starts playing. However, once that song ends, iTunes will leap to some other random song in your library (i.e., not the next song in the sequence of the album you just added and it started playing). The only solution I have found is to, after dropping the album onto the iTunes icon, go into iTunes and double click the song that is already playing so that the rest of the tracks in the album get added to the "up next" queue.

Is this just a bug and bad UX, or is there something more to this that I'm missing?
