I know for certain that the free foo2zjs driver works for this printer....

However, you need to be a geek (be comfortable with Terminal and willing to use open source software) to use it.

First get foomatic and ghostscript:

Then, get foo2zjs:

Hi,

Indeed the 1018 is not compatible with Mac OS X:

Try the following workaround and check if that may work:

  1. Download and isntall the following:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
  2. Turn the printer on and connect it to your Mac.
  3. Go to System Preferences > Print and Scan and click the plus sign.
  4. Selet the listed 1018 and click the Use drop down.
  5. Click on Select printer software and select the Laserjet 1022 from the list.
  6. Click add and try printing using the newly created print queue.

If that fails as well you may also try the 3rd aprty F002zjs drivers which seems to support the 1018:

Best of luck,
