power button not working

My iMac froze and I unplugged it. When I tried to turn it back on , the power button doesnt do anything.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Only running Lion, no Windows

I've just had a stone cold (mid 2010) imac for the past 2 days. I read on another forum that if you unplug from the mains and hold down the power button for at least half a minute, this can fix the issue. Tried it a couple of times today and it's sprung back to life again.
