I can't update iOS on my ipad

Please can someone explain where I'm going wrong. I have an iPad 2 and I am trying to update the iOS 6.1.3 on my iPad but in my settings - general I don't have a software update in my tab like I do on my iPhone. Does anyone know what I can do to update software on my iPad? At the moment any apps I want to use or buy I can't use because I need to update iOS.

Would be very grateful for any help.

That is only a feature of iOS 5 or later...

If you have iOS 4... See Here...

OR...

Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...

If an Update Appears Install it... if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...

See the Using iTunes Section Here...
