Q: Pro Tools Won't Import Audio

Hello

I have Pro Tools 6.8 and Final Cut Pro 6.

I exported a MONO AIFF of a scene from a movie which I'd like to import into Pro Tools.

I go to IMPORT AUDIO FILE and click on my AIFF

I'm told to ADD it which I do.

I click OPEN and nothing happens. No error message, no upload.

I've done this quite a few times, and have had no problem. But, right now it's just not importing.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

THANK YOU in advance.

Final Cut Pro 6, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

how does pro tools describe the aiff at the add window. it's been a while since i used pro tools 6.8, but it usually gives a brief description, bit rate, stereo, mono, size, type, etc..

At various stages it said that the file needed to be converted and I'd do that and it wouldn't do anything.

I was able to make mono AIFFs and it would say "This can be added directly to the track", and still nothing.

For some reason it just doesn't work that way.

But, I got it working by opening the workspace browser, clicking on the file and it brought it in.

It's not the easy way to do it. But, at the moment it's the only way.

    can you drag it on?

is the drive the file is on "known" to pro tools? i mean you can set it to T transfer, R record, Both, or not be recognised by pro tools.

can you post a screenshot or two?

hold shift+cmd+4, then drag the dotted area. when you let go, the mac takes a picture of that area. it'll probably be in your pictures folder.
