how do i get album artwork on my ipad?

In order to get album artwork on your songs in your iPad, you will first have to get the album artwork associated with the song in iTunes. I have an article for you that can explain this process:

Personally, I think the best option is going to be found by following the last step in those articles:

Retrieve album artwork for songs in your library from the iTunes Store: Control-click the songs and choose Get Album Artwork from the pop-up menu.

You can also follow the steps in this article to get iTunes to download all of the album artwork for songs in your library that can be found in the iTunes Store:
