In FCP there was an XDCam export which exported directly wrapped as .MXF. Now I use FCP X and I wish to know if there is a way to do this directly from the app. What I am doing at the moment is to share to XDCam and then import the .mov file to FCP 7 and export it again as .MXF. This makes me loose a lot of time. Any suggestions please?

Thanks for your reply. I have downloaded Sony's Content Browser. However when trying to export, it keeps telling me that the Hard Drive is locked or full, which is not the case. Do you know what could be the problem?

Check the permissions on that drive to see whether Ignor Ownership box is checked.

I always use this drive for FCP X. But I am using Sony Content browser in order to export .MXF files and this is giving me the problems. I have not installed the plug in you are suggesting. I thought this was only for importing XDCAM files and not for exporting .MXF. Am I wrong?
To be used with Content Browser Exporter, your Quicktime file need to contain:
- 1 video track (XDCAM HD422 50 Mbits)
- 8 mono audio track
Otherwise, Content Browser Export won't accept the file. You can create a file with such specification entirely in Final Cut Pro X, using Roles and exporting with "Roles As Multitrack Quicktime Movie".

I don't have problems with importing. I only need to export .mxf files for a TV station. Guillaume T partially solved my problem because I can use the Sony Content browser exporter with XDCAM HD422 50 Mbits and 8 ch audio. However the TV station asked for 35 MBits 50i with 4 channel audio. And still, Content broweser won't work with that.

It seem that Content Browser Exporter can create MXF with XDCAM HD 35 Mbits video and 4ch mono audio, but the audio need to be 16 bits (from the error message that pop-up). The problem now is that FCPX output 24 bits audio... I will check into that and see what can be done.
Try IFFmpeg. I use it to make OPA-1 MXF files for our Omneon broadcast server.

Hi Matt, I use Fileconverter. A free application that wraps my exported file to .mxf. I export from FCP X using the XDCam HD codec and then I import it to Fileconverter and it does everything automatically. It has been always accepted by the TV station.

My broadcaster wants an AVC Intra 100Mbit/s encode in a MXF file. The XD Cam encoders don't suport AVC Intra. MXF4Mac is a bit expensive so what are the cost effecient options?
I'm on Mavericks on a Mac Pro (new 6 core model) with FCP7.
Marjopr, I can't find Fileconverter (for Mac) anywhere. Could you post a link. And can it accept non XD Cam codecs?
