Q: Poor app purchase!  Money back?

Just got a brand new Power Mac.  Trying to read an RSS feed, I got a pop-up indicating I needed to download an RSS reader.  Chose NewsBar on basis of starred reviews.  Didn't realize it would literally be a bar on my desktop.  Can I get my payment back and try to find one that is an icon instead of bar?

PowerMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

No PowerMac can run OS 10.8 nor access the App Store. You must have a Mac Pro if this is a tower-type case.. Can you clarify?

All I know is the box says iMac model #A1418 and when I click on the apple and "About this Mac" I see this:  OS X ver. 10.8.3, Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3.   There is no tower, just the 21.5" monitor.  The guy from AppleCare called it a PowerMac, so I believed him.  Does it really matter, considering my question concerned a refund for an app?

Thanks.  I just got an email from the iTunes Store after taking your advice.  I will know tomorrow whether or not I will get a refund.  Thanks for suggesting I contact Apple's Express Lane.

My concern was that you posted in a forum for pre-2006 tower models that doesn't get much traffic compared the the forum area for your model or the forum for the App Store. Looks like BD saved the day againso you are fixed up.

For what it's worth, here is the forum for your iMac model if you have future hardware qustions. It's a high-traffic, lots-of-eyeballs forum that should get you a rapid response:

    iMac (Intel)

As explained to you, you do NOT have a Power Mac.  You have an Intel iMac.

Power Macs stopped being manufactured in the summer of 2006 and they did not use Intel chips..

That's why you're being told you are in the wrong forum, and your signature contains false information as to the kind of Mac you have.

Thank you for letting me know what forum I should have been in.  Being new to Macs and to forums, I was bound to make a mistake.  If only the box the computer arrived in had said what forum to join....

Thank you for the history lesson.  I certainly did NOT intend to post "false information" in my signature.  Now that I have the correct name for my new iMac (Intel), I will be careful not to bother you with any further questions in this forum.
