I'm trying to re install osx 10.5 but my disc 2 always fails. Everytime i try to re install without the bundle (disc 2) my macbook ask me for disc 2 ! I've check HD with disk utility and it's ok but i cannot get out from this loop. Please, i need some help. Thanks a lot.

Hi, insert disc #1, hold option or alt key at bootup to select #1, Hold Mouse button also at bootup if you need to eject Disc#2.
That second Disc thing happens frequently, the best way around it is to do a Custom install, and eliminate enough Printer Drivers, Languages, Fonts, and Applications you don't need... then it may skip #2 altogether.

Thanks for your answer, I did what you told me but the trouble persists. I tried custom installation, (only essentials) but it's the same, the installer always ask me for disc 2 and when I insert it the system don't get to recognize it.
I also reboot holding C key and I checked HD with disk utility and everything seems to be ok. It's like the system remains in this loop : asking for disc 2.
I wonder if there is another way to tell to the system "forget disc 2 !"

I'd call Apple with the Serial# handy & ask for original relacement Discs, or...

That may work, if you can afford to loose everything on that drive, but it still may be a Disc ptoblem & not a Disk problem.
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the Erase tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data one pass, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to get a good install.
Yeah, I did it and the problems persists. I got all my data on a external HD so nothing is lost.
I will try to get another discs from apple.

I have just arrived from Apple Store (Montréal). There, in Genius Bar they installed osx 10.6 from external HD. In 30 minutes I got my old macbook return to life ! So it was the discs as you told me.
