Here's a response from the company that makes the relevant software, posted on another site:

There are two possible reasons why our logo can show up when you are playing back QuickTime files:

1) You have downloaded and installed our QuickTime Source DirectShow Filter, which is a wrapper over QuickTime Player that allows other applications to play .MOV files:

If you've never been to this web page, it is probably not your case.

2) You have installed a third-party application that is using our filter, but has not properly licensed it (or has not deployed the license properly). We do allow some of the popular players (like Windows Media Player) to use our component free of charge. You should not have this problem with Windows Media Player, for instance.

So, if you let us know what application you're using for your MOVs, we'll be able to help. If you want to get in touch with us, please use the form below:

In any case, we did not want our logo to show up and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Perhaps that will help.

Regards.
