Q: Aperture keeps quitting when trying to make a vault

I bought a 1 tb EHD to used solely for vaults for my referenced library. I daisy chained the 1 tb EHD to my 2 tb EHD that has all my images. I have tried to make a vault 3 times now and aperture keeps crashing. Very frustrated, any thoughts? Their is plenty of free space on my hd to be used for the transfer. And the daisy chained EHD has its own power source.Thanks

How is the EHD formatted?

 

Most are formated for PC and Aperture could be having problems if that is true.

    Yes but with a vault I can routinely back it up...

    I know - I thought it might be a temporary work-around to give you a backup, while you try to fix your Aperture  library. I would not recommend to repair or rebuild the library without a backup.

    I completely agree. Curiously, I have repaired the library within the last week or so. it kept crashing and eventually a dialogue box popped up recommending that i repair the data base so i did. I am very interested to see if I can create a vault on my desktop. if not I will panic, if so it will lead me to believe there is a problem with the Gdrive mini I bought and just retun it and get a different EHD and see if that will work. Thank you so much for all your help. It is GRESATLY appreciated
