Connect to iTunes Problem

My friends got ahold of my ipood and disabled it. Now it says I have to connect to iTunes, but when I tried restoring it a pop-up appeared saying the server cannot be contacted. Is there any other way I can fix this problem? I don't have anything important on my iPod so if everthing gets deleted I won't be losing a lot.
