Q: Location errors

Hi

I seem to have a location 'stuck' in one of my Aperture libraries.

Wherever i put the pin on the map 'Godrevy' is added to the location. For example..... (copied from location box after pin is dropped)

Godrevy, Sheffield, England, United Kingdom

Godrevy, London Borough of Hackney, London, England, United Kingdom

Clumber Park, Godrevy, England, United Kingdom

Godrevy is a lighthouse and headland near St Ives in Cornwall, UK. I was there recently and tagged some pics with that location, but it seems to have got stuck in Aperture memory.

I repaired the permissions and repaired the database, neither fixed the issue. The fault occurs on both my laptop and iMac.

Any ideas?

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

    Hi Leonie,

Thanks, you are right - I fotgot about the "~" so got in wrong. However I removed "com.apple.Aperture.plist" from the Preferences folder now but the problem persists.

Anyway now I seem to have found the solution, which is quite obvious (maybe I just didn't understand your advice). I have all the time been looking at "Places" i.e. what you get when you click on the small "world" top-right on the screen. However now I found "Metadata" => "Manage my Places" where you have all the controls. I simply deleted the "cesis, latvia" place which solved the problem.

    Rgds,

    Erkki

    Yes, you are right -

"Manage My Places" is working better than the "Places" view.

I am now using the following workflow:

    • Create places and assigning them to images in Place View - and by now I simply ignore if the resize controls don't show.
    • Then edit the place in "Manage My Places" - either delete it, if it cannot be correctly resized or adjust the radius in this view. Most of the times this will work.
