If I need to free up memory on my computer, if I delete a "project" in iMovie, will that affect the original "event"?

I need to free up memory on my computer. If I delete a "project" in iMovie, does that affect my being able to still access the "event" in iMovie?

What if I did it the way around, delete the "event" but not the "project"? Does that work?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), also have iMovie and iDVD

Events and Projects are two different shoeboxes:

Events contains all 'raw' data, for any Project.

A Project is just a list, referring to those Events.

Erasing Projects - no effect on Events.

Erasing Events - Projects irreversible damaged, cannot be used anymore, kaputt !!
