i am trying to figure this out so i can start downloading music to my ipod from my computer please help

i had the same problem. i found a simple solution - whatever browser you're using - stop.
1) download safari (for windows)
2) go to itunes website and download itunes from there
(every other browser errors for one reason or another, and i have them all, when you download through safari, it doesnt error it seems)
what if it says servie "apple mobile device" (apple mobile device) failed to start please verify that you have sufficient privlages to start system privlage.
