connection to App Store not possible

I am online (e.g. I'm searching, reading and writing here in this forum - Safari, Google, Enmail, Skype - everything works)

nevertheless since me updating from 10.6.x tp 10.8.3 (around 2-3 weeks ago) I cannot connect to the Mac App Store or update my Software.

AppStore window shows this

User uploaded file

(means: Connection to App Store impossible - you need an Internet connection )

note:

I tried this numerous times over the last 2 weeks - I am online App Store thinks I'm not.

I did reset / PRam reset etc.

It even shows an update available, but still remains in the "no Internet" state.

Any idea where I can delete / reset / kill th esettings for the App Store ?

Apple ID is correctly entered in system setting Users tab

thx for any help - Zo

just tried it - created a new admin User - with the same apple ID (didn't configure icloud though) an get the same thing. seems the mac App Store app doesn't see the internet connection.

Mac App Store works on another MBP in the same network (10.7.last )

I could try to download the 10.8.3 combo updater (does that still exist ?) and run that...

any other ideas ?

nothing like Little Snitch or so is active

Firewall was OFF (now ON again)

logging in from the APP STORE fails - also checked another valid Apple ID, so it'S not the Apple ID

Up through Lion 10.7.5, you could delete the App Store app and install the most recent update combo to reinstall a fresh version of the App Store app. That however no longer works with the advent of Mt Lion. (I tried it twice yesterday just to be sure.)

Another idea used in the past for App Store connection issues was to delete all of the network services in Sys Prefs/Network and then restore them. Since another Mac on your same LAN works correctly, that pretty much narrows the issue down to this particular Mac and not Apples end of the connection.

the other MBP is running 10.7.5 so not sure if the App Store has different "ends" for different systems, on the other hand this issue persists since 2-3 weeks (its my wifes computer so I can't say exactly how long) but it's there since she went from 10.6 to 10.8

I will redo the network connections from scratch, however, I AM online with the troubled computer right now. So it's just the Mac App Store - App that doesn't see the web. as far as I can see everything else (mail, skype, web, ftp, imessage... ) works fine.

thx for your time ! - Zo

ok here the question:

is it better to install

from the downloadable 10.8.3 combo updater

or

from the recovery partiotion -> reinstall 10.8.3

As we are also struggeling with Time Machine (haha ) I want to make sure the user data remains in place when I do the updater / recovery install...

I tried this last under 10.6. on another MBP and it worked fine, but the dialog boxes remain a bit foggy about that aspect of the "install" - I think I'll try the combo updater...

Bump - meanwhile updated to 10.8.4 (downloaded the 10.8.4 Combo Updater and installed it)

still no change...

neither APP STORE nor the SOFTWARE UPDATES can connect , and claim there is no Internet connection. There definitely is an internet connection, as I'm using it to read and post here and can surf / get email as usual !!

one "minor thing", on connection to this site here

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5074474?answerId=22144659022#22144659022

Safari claims the certificate is signed by a untrusted source. (see screenshot below) Is it possible that something is wrong with my certificates here on this machine ? Any advice ?

Should I delete certificates (are any locally stored on a OSX machine) and maybe force a reload of a propper newer certificate ? Could this disturb the (hopefully safe) connection to the App Store ?

thx for your thoughts - zo

So... any progress since June, Zopolopp?

I have a similar problem... My app store app just says "cannot connect to app store". However, it already fails when trying to register an AppleID (via the menu) --- it doesn't mention anything about connection or not.

Also, if I click on the "Store" tab, just above the last one ("check for unfinished downloads") there are two wrong entries: they are IN_CAPITALS --- the kind of thing that is typically a variable in the software, replaced in each language version by the appropriate wording... I have SIGN_IN_MENU_ITEM_TITLE and CREATE_ACCOUNT_MENU_ITEM_TITLE.

Turning firewall on & off has no effect (which makes sense if it's a defect inside my appstore.app). I also have an iTunes annoyance that it gives me 5 or so "missing certificate" warnings from various Apple domains --- all the online guidance says it will go away if you do any of the following: update to newest iTunes, empty the cache of warnings in the Preferences>Advanced menu and turn off automatic updating checks, or throw away some corrupted plist... None of which makes a difference in my case. (It's a persistent annoyance since months.) It may be related?

Any input?
