Q: I can't SEND email from Telus account in Alberta, Canada? Does anyone know how to set up the Outgoing server? Help! And thanks!

Can't SEND email from Telus account in Alberta, Canada, unless I go to web mail. Does anyone know how to set up the Outgoing server? Incoming is fine. Outgoing used to work. We changed it when we went to another location, and can't get it back. Telus support can't fix it. Neither smtp.telus.net NOR mail.telus.net works for Outgoing server to send mail. Please help! Thanks.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

HERE'S HOW TO SEND REGULAR EMAIL FROM TELUS ACCOUNT WITHOUT HAVING TO USE WEBMAIL: Thanks Alfred and Tom (Texas Mac Man).  I forgot to mention that this was for iPad2. I rebooted, per Tom, then had to "recreate" my Telus email account (it came up as IMAP). It told me that it was already configured , and I had to select "Edit," then add another Outgoing server (mail.telus.net). I now have two outgoing servers: smtp.telus.net and mail.telus.net. No logic to how, but it's now working and we don't have to use web mail.  Advantage is that we can click on a photo and the option to send by email works. It shouldn't be this friggin' difficult!!! Thanks for your help. Denise

I also am in Alberta attempting to get telus mail working.

I have an iPhone 4s and an iPad 4 both with 6.1.3.

Both have the exact same settings for telusmail (as described above)

The iPhone works perfectly fine, the iPad will NOT send emails ever. Not on work network, not on home network, not teathered to the iPhone that works and not teathered to an android.

    Rebooted it, still doesnt work.

removed the telus emaila account, readded. still doesnt work.

factory restored the iPad and started it fresh(not from backup), went directly to mail setup. still will not send mail through smtp.telus.net. I have also tried adding mail.telus.net as a secondary sending address as suggested and that also does not work. web mail works fine, iphone works fine with the EXACT same settings. I have tried the imap version and the pop version. both work fine for incoming jbut messages just stay in the outbox and it says "cannot connect to smtp.telus.net"

    Incoming Mail Server Type: POP3

    Incoming Mail Server: pop.telus.net

    Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.telus.net

If you have a .net account you have to use 1025 as your server port then it will work fine for you I couldn't use it either until I changed it. hope this helps
