iCloud erased my calendar once but...
I want to try again since I now have an iPad.
How do I make sure icloud leaves my info on my computer while making it available for my iPad?

You may find this page helpful with setting up iCloud on your computer and iPad:

Once iCloud is set up, any changes you make on the computer will be reflected on the iPad, and vice versa.
