Jun 2, 2013 3:48 AM in response to Eric2025by LowLuster,★HelpfulI don't have a new mac, mine is 1++ years old, but it never takes that long for the light on the charger end to come on when I either turn the wall switch on the charger is connected to or if I move my mac and charger and connect the mag end to the computer. It might take 2-3 seconds but no longer. So I'd say it is not normal and you might want to have apple check the system out. And at the least take it in and have this anomaly documented by the techs just in case at a later time it becomes a real problem.

Jun 2, 2013 3:52 AM in response to Eric2025by Courcoul,★HelpfulHas been a cause of mystification and source of various threads already. It is never instantaneous, but takes a few seconds in most cases; mine takes 2 to 3 sec., depending on state of charge with fully charged the fastest. We've observed similar times in Retinas with MagSafe 2.
Remember you have a one-year base warranty to take advantage of.

Jun 2, 2013 8:00 AM in response to Courcoulby Eric2025,Thanks! If the charger is plugged in and the computer is running, it seems to take 2 to 3 seconds. But if I close the computer and then plug it into the charger, the LED seems to take a lot longer. I don't know if it's because its in sleep mode, or what. It does seem to end up charging sooner or later.

Jun 2, 2013 10:13 AM in response to Eric2025by Courcoul,Note that the whole color show is done by the Mac. The cable just has two conductors and carries the 18V produced by the power brick, so everything is done by the Mac's SMC thru the various pins in the connector. What you can try and see if it speeds up the LED is an SMC reset : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
