Mac mini PowerPc G4 1.5ghz

Hi all,

A friend of mine has just given me his old mac mini which has been lying around for years. I've just switched it on and it runs fine. I've just upgraded all the software but Can i upgrade this machine with RAM & Harddrive? Is it worth doing and what components would i need?

Those older Mini's are a little hard to open up and upgrade, but once your inside things are pretty straight forward.

For starters see > Mac Mini Repair - iFixit

As for upgrading the HDD. You will need to have the original OS X Disc or suitable OS X upgrade DVD, so that you can properly set up the HDD and Install OS X on it.

Optionally if you lack the Install Disc, you could also use a FireWire 400 External HD Enclosure to first setup and copy OS X from the old drive to new drive.
