Why is my iCloud inbox showing full with less than 200MB of email?

I recently upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion, and now my iCloud mailbox is showing up as full. I have 5GB of free storage, and my mailbox is at 182MB (see image).

I am using less than 1GB of my free 5GB account:

Now all of my emails are bouncing to senders with the "over quota" error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Actually I found the solution:

I recently upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion (on a new drive because my old HD crashed and burned!), and upon setting up my user account, I mistakenly associated my login with an Apple ID (System Prefs -> Users -> [My username] -> Apple ID.

Once I disassociated my user account the my Apple ID, logged out and back in, my email was fine again.

It was not easy to find the answer but someone mentioned it in a post in passing and that turns out to be the solution!
