There are 2 good ways to do this.

1) Buy and A/V connection kit for your iPad. This will connect into the connector at the bottom of the iPad and will have connections which you then use to connect it to your TV.

2) (and better but more expensive solution) is to buy an Apple TV. The Apple TV will plug into your TV. You will then be able to wirelessly send whatever is showing on your iPad, out to the Apple TV which will then display it on your TV.

Be careful though, I believe that Option (2) will only work for iPad 3 and iPad 4 - make sure which iPad you have before buying the solution. Also the A/V connection kit (Option 1) for iPad 3 and iPad 4 will be different, so again, please make sure which one you have before making a purchase - iPad 3 has the traditional Apple connector whilst iPad 4 has the newer Lightning connector.

If you don't already have it, you buy the Compiste cable outlines in the article you came from, and connect one end to your iPad and the other end to the TV. Set the TV to the proper input source.

You will then need to open an APP that supports Video out such as the Videos App, or the Photos App in Slideshow mode as the Composite cable does not support Mirroring.

Alternatively, and if your TV has the proper inputs you can buy the Digital Av adapter for your iPad, and mirror the entrie iPad screen to your TV. So you can view any App Apop on your TV.
