Niel can I backup the system to the lower Bay HD, The same HD I intend to install Tiger. The lower Bay HD is 2TB so it does have a lot of room...Should I partition before backup and installing Tiger? I really am a newbee and need your expert advise.
1. You can but shouldn't; drives can fail. Back up to a third drive. The computer can be booted from a FireWire drive if needed.
2. You can if you want. You can also repartition the first drive and use the second drive to hold backups.

The first drive where leopard is states:
Capacity: 465.64 GB
Available: 64.05 GB
Format: Mac OS Extended (journaled)
Used: 401.59 GB on disk
Niel, Please walk me on How to repartition the 1st HD.
1. Open the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder.
2. Select the whole drive in the sidebar.
3. Click the Partition tab.
4. Click the + button.
5. Specify a size of about 20 to 30GB for the new partition.
You may want to move some of your files from the first drive to the second to free up space on the first before doing this.
