By using your Mac Pro's (option) > System Information... menu command, you can be certain whether your Mac detects the camera.
When the System Information window opens, click on "USB" under "Hardware" in the sidebar. Then look in the USB Device Tree window pane that opens when you select "USB". Click ALL right-facing triangles ( ▶) so they point down (▼) and reveal all individual items.
If your camera is nowhere in the USB Device Tree window pane, your Mac does NOT recognize the cam.
If your camera is NOT recognized, try Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro using the specific Mac Pro instructions from Apple's Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) page.
If your camera is STILL NOT working properly, try all relevant troubleshooting suggestions from LED Cinema Display (24-inch, Late 2008): Basic troubleshooting.
If the trouble continues and you are using third-party components to to connect your display, see if anything from LED Cinema Display (27-inch): Troubleshooting no video issues when using DVI video ports might give you ideas that help resolve your trouble.
If your camera is shown in your USB Device Tree but still does not work after considering all the above items, use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then download and apply the latest Combo Update, for your Mac Mountain Lion OS: currently OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.3 (Combo). Do this even though you are already using (10.8.3). Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems.
If nothing else helps, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
