hello everyone. I am using macbook air. I wanted to download the latest version of OS X that is mountain lion. As i start to download, it starts but stops at a specific point and after sometime it says mac doesn't have enough memory though ive got almost 12 Gb.

And secondly whenevr i update any of the built in app, after 90 Mb of downloading my Mac restarts. Can anyone please help me?

You should try to increase your hard drive space from 12GB to 20GB that may help, I know the min requirement is 8GB of storage, take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5444

SOLUTION:

You need more space available.

Recommended for major OS Upgrades

backup mac

Restore 10.7 from Recovery HD

Download and update to 10.8

Migrate data from previous backup.

If you have an early MB Air that has 2GB of RAM I wouldn't recommend putting 10.8 on it. its a bit sluggish.
