Safari omnibar automatically searches without keying "enter."

Hello all,

Running ML on my 2011 MBP, Safari 6.0.4.

Here is my problem:

I will begin to type a URL or search term into the address bar (omnibar) and, often mid-word, Safari automatically searches or 'guesses' which website to go to. Is this a bug or a feature of Safari? Either way - how can I disable or fix it? It is incredibly frustrating, as I am a fast typer and Safari just jumps to a web page before I finish the URL.

Not sure if this will help with a third party add on ...

Go to your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.

Select: Prevent search engine from providing suggestions

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

I have no third-party extensions installed - maybe omnibar was the wrong term to use, I thought that was Apple's name for the combined address-search bar. It is standard Safari 6.0.4. I will test your method and see what happens though, thank you.

Safari uses the built in Google search engine by default but you can change that from Safari > Preferences > General
