I have a ipod touch 3rd gen that I suspect is formatted for Mac. It does not show up in my computer (WIN XP) and does not show in itunes. I need to reformat it without using itunes. How do I do it?

I recently purchased a used Ipod touch 3rd gen on eBay. It does not show up in my computer )WINXP) and although it does synch with itunes it does not show up as a device in itunes. I suspect that it is formatted for Mac! I need to reformat it for windows. Since it is not showing in itunes I cannot use the itunes method for formatting. Is there a way to format it without a computer or using windows. It does not show as a disk drive in windows.

iPod touch, Windows XP Pro
