Jan 4, 2014 2:47 PM in response to tking399by 7summits,I have tried it all. Including calling apple. Still will not work. Apple has my phone number held captive and they will not let it loose.
So, here is how I fixed it today. I took my four children to the phone store and bought them all Galaxy Phones and trashed their Iphones. Screw Apple. I will spend every chance I can to let peope know about this. BS!

Excellent and congrats! Come back in few month and share your experience with us. Would also be great to find out how their tech support score for you after you get a chance to find out.

Jan 4, 2014 10:56 PM in response to HockeyBeastby stevenmey5,im so effing mad at apple right now, i just paid out my @SS for a note 3 and i cant even get it to work because of the same problem, did you fix it yet? if so how?

Jan 6, 2014 3:47 AM in response to stevenmey5by tking399,I have tried everything as well and nothing works - or at least not for ALL of my friends/family with iPhones. I went to the Apple store as well and they were not helpful.
This is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING to me. Other than my new Android, I own ALL Apple products (Macbook, Apple TV, various iPods, Time Capsule. 2 iPads and an Apple TV). I have always been a faithful Apple customer. That said, I will think very seriously before spending one more dime on an Apple product because of the lack of responsiveness toward addressing this glitch.
Get with the program, Apple.

Jan 13, 2014 1:19 AM in response to Pat518by ex apple user,This IS an issue with the structure of apple's 'messaging'.
All fine and dandy that they simply hijack a user's SMS functionality for their own messaging system.
And when said user leaves apple and takes their carrier's (NOT apple's) mobile contact number with them, apple are still merrily firing out 'messages' (read - 'IMESSAGES') here and there without bothering to deactivate the functionality.
there is no way to de-register a handset via itunes - i have tried - and simply shutting off imessage does not work.
Pointless.

Jan 13, 2014 4:04 AM in response to ex apple userby tking399,I completely agree. I have tried everything, and nothing has worked. I can get text messages from some iphone users, but not all, and NO group messages.
I own so many Apple products and have always been a huge proponent of them. I only switched to an Android because Apple would not produce a larger screen phone. I considered going back to my iphone merely to get functionality back with texting, but I refuse to reward Apple in their attempt to hold me hostage.
In all seriousness, I think a Class Action lawsuit should be filed to force Apple to fix this.

Jan 13, 2014 4:18 AM in response to tking399by ex apple user,i've sorted this out now.
Please read my explanation here:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/24488400#24488400
You will need to contact apple support according to my solution.
Whatever it was they did, and i can guarantee that they did SOMETHING to release my (t-mobile's) number from their ecosystem, even though they did not specify step two (whatever they did after instructing me to deactivate imessage on their handset - which i explained i had already done), it has now returned my SMS delivery and receipt status to normal, and i can send and receive to everyone and anyone in my Contact List.

Jan 13, 2014 9:53 PM in response to beccac503by dkellis,Unfortunately it's becoming apparent that Apple has no intention of remedying this issue. This has been an issue for every person who switches from Apple to Android since iMessage was created, and if Apple were going to fix the problem they would have done it by now. It shows us for switching from their product...

Jan 14, 2014 3:43 AM in response to ex apple userby tking399,Are you able to get group messages as well?
-
Jan 14, 2014 3:49 AM in response to tking399by ex apple user,I have not tried; never had any cause to use group messages as yet.
If i do, and it fails, no doubt i will simply get back on the horn to my good friend 'Stephen' in order to explain that they will be sorting the problem out ASAP.
That approach has yielded a 100% success rate thus far.

It's been over 45 days and I still miss texts from my wife.
Apple has been no help on the phone.

Jan 17, 2014 3:13 PM in response to Pat518by whitelillie1,After lots of trys this is what worked for me. Go to My Apple ID - click on "Mange your apple ID" sign in with username and password go to "phone numbers" and delete your cell number and save changes. Next go back out to where you clicked "manage your apple ID" and reset your password - Mine is working prefectly now.
Good luck!!

Jan 19, 2014 12:28 PM in response to whitelillie1by shelby77,I have replied on another thread about this same issue. I have talked to 4 different Apple agents since getting my Samsung Note 3.. and not being able to receive text msgs from others, including my husband with an iPhone. I tried all of the things mentioned. The last Apple guy finally admitted that the issue was iMessaging and they are working on it, but there is no eta. No matter what I do, or what my friends/family with iPhones do, I cannot consistently get text. My only option is to go back to an iPhone. Unfortunately I have burned through the 14 day eval period and AT&T will not replace my phone. I am paying for unlimited text but not receiving any! I have spent hours with both AT&T and Apple and gotten no where. Customers who switch are totally screwed here.
