As far as I know I never responded to you personally, cause you exposed yourself from the start. I do not need your approval, nor care for one.

Indeed, you have a fairly unlimited right to be wrong here on a public forum. I was just trying to get you not to excercise it.
To clear things up folks, fromsouth is taking the position that apple support is, in fact, wrong or lying to us about it being an apple problem and it's actually our and our friends' fault.

Apr 22, 2014 1:18 PM in response to martofskyby zelous,i would say its both parties fault really. but does it really matter whose fault it is? its the consumer's fault for attaching their number to imessage and then expecting iphones to just stop using imessage when sending to that number in their contacts when they switch phones. its apple's fault for not making it easier and more concrete for iphones to stop sending u imessages when u tell apple servers to take out ur number.
but like i said. it doesnt really matter whose fault it is because placing blame and being rude to eachother on the forums doesnt really fix the issue does it?
as of right now the best fix is to call applecare and have them revoke ur # out of the system. it will take 24-48 hours for that to take affect. if ur still having issues with not getting messages from iphones then that means u have done everything u can on ur end and its ur contacts that arent doing what they need to do to be able to send u messages. they currently still have u saved as an imessage using contact and are not getting the notification from apple servers that u are no longer using imessage. to fix this bug they will need to update their software to recieve a patch for this apple has sent out. it would also be a good idea to have them turn on "send as sms" in their settings>messages. this setting is designed to let people send regular texts when the person u are texting does not have imessage available at the time and the settings is normally off by default.
i know that following these troubleshooting steps is tedious, especially for the people with large amounts of contacts, but there really isnt any other option here. like i said before placing blame on either side is completely pointless and just a waste of space. if u want to vent to apple go to apple.com/feedback. if u want to vent to other people on this forum at least post troubleshooting steps for the issue at hand if u want to at least appear like ur being helpful and not just continuing a flame war.

Apr 22, 2014 2:22 PM in response to zelousby larryhutch,There is no patch that works, nor does having someone activate "send as SMS" fix the problem.

Apr 22, 2014 2:30 PM in response to andrenat39by Thom_D,They didnt' need to turn off iMessage they did need to turn on send as SMS when iMessage is unavailable. Don't know why this isn't on by default. Probably to keep those with limited text messaging plans from complaining about sending SMS texts without knowing it.
Either way if both iMessage and Send as SMS are turned on the system should find your phone no matter what kind it is.

Apr 22, 2014 2:41 PM in response to Pat518by fromsouth,Fromsouth actually confirms to rules of that forum about not placing blame and attempting to help people with real and not imaginary techincal problems. Fromsouth also does not believe in ghosts who works for Apple and stops your messages out of the "BLUE".

it worked for me... so clearly ur wrong. after i updated my iphone and turned on send as sms my brother was suddenly able to get my messages. so, now that u have clearly posted a false statement as if it were truth please, stop posting ur useless ramblings and cluttering up these forums.

fromsouth is talking in the third person. fromsouth would do better to further his cause if he posted constructive messages instead of lowering himself to larryhutch's lvl.

Apr 22, 2014 4:48 PM in response to fromsouthby quitob1,Does anyone think that if I WIPE my ANDROID it might help? My friend enabled "Send as SMS" on her iPhone but it still won't send me her group MMS. However my wife's iPhone does send group MMS to that same thread.

i was explaining how ur statement was a logical falacy because u claimed that these steps dont work at all. not once did i claim that because they work for me they also must work for everyone. please actually read my posts if u intend to reply to them.

i dont think that wiping ur android will help at all actually. the group messaging is the stickler for the problem at the moment. u can try having ur contacts that are trying to group message u delete u as a contact completely, as well as any conversations they have with u in it at all, and then re-add u and see if that works. but that is an extreme fix for the issue.

Unfortunately, I very much doubt that will help. You can ensure that she's upgraded to 7.1 (or 7.1.1 today) and that might help.

Fromsouth has previously expressed multiple times the same opinion, that problem is not on your Android, but on the iphone that sends messages to you. He would suggest to attempt reset network settings on friend's iphone and see if that will fix the glitch. Fromsouth may be wrong. But he still reserves the right to type in third person on that particular thread, just to show that he cares.

I think she's already done all that but unfortunately can't be certain and I don't want to ask her because she's not a close friend, but our dog walker. I feel badly asking her to do so much work just so that she can group MMS me and my wife. Yes, it's an extreme fix that even my close friends are unwilling to do without giving me grief.

quitob1 appreciates fromsouth's help, but quitob1 cannot ask his friend to tinker with her iphone anymore. quitob1 is just getting desparate and running out of options.
