i was just trying to politely point out that u will not be getting any reply from apple on this forum. the only ones that they get involved with are simple ones that they can just post an article for and ninja out. so its a waste of time complaining that apple isnt present in the forum. if u want to call that drama then so be it.

May 9, 2014 1:09 PM in response to Pat518by kerryfromperrysburg,Friend just got a Samsung. I have an iphone. Started a group text with him and another iphone user. He didn't get the texts yesterday but today when I typed in the group message he received the text! Strange. He never got the original texts from yesterday tho. Just thought I would share this even though it probably doesn't really help. Also, the group text changed from blue imessage yesterday to green sms text today.

May 13, 2014 8:52 AM in response to Pat518by jpag99,20 some odd Days into Samsung Galaxy S5 and I've spend way too much time on this subject. Several friends and the wife have iPhones and we're tried everything on their phones: my number has been removed from apple server, they wiped out my contact, they wiped out me as a favorite, they wiped out entire text conversation, they turned on Send As MMS, they turned the iphone off, they turned it back on, they reset network settings, they sent a text by typing in my number and not adding me as a contact first, they have updated iphone software to 7.1.1- none of this has worked - with my own two eyes and after doing what i stated above at least 4 times, I have witnessed my wifes phone send a text message to my number in Blue, indicating that somehow the phone is still getting hung up on my number being associated with imesage, which has confirmed that there is a history buried somewhere in the iphone which will not let imessage go for former iphone users. I spent 30-minutes on the phone with an "elevated" apple care person and walked through all of this. He did not waste his time and ask me do go through the motions for the 5th time - the bottom line is he stated they (apple's engineers) are working on a fix to this. DO i believe it? I'm 50/50 on actually believeing it- meanwhile I'm missing text messages from at least 20 people who rely on texting me to communicate.
At this juncture all that has worked for us is if the iPhone user turns off iMessage within settings. That's wildly inconvenient for me to ask of all iPhone users and ultimately it's their choice to do so. If other items listed about have worked for you that's awesome and you should be greatful. But then again, it could be working for some an not others and you'll never know unless you speak with the texter.
Please do not respond and state the obvious potential "fixes" which i've listed above - this is an issue for many more than 27-pages of people and it's on Apple to fix it when all items listed above have failed.

May 13, 2014 10:11 AM in response to Pat518by scottkidder,Update - I'm 32 days into my switch. The problem definitly seems to be specific to each individual contact as I have suddenly started to recieve messages from some people, but there are still a significant number of people I don't recieve messages from.
My personal theory is that each person's iphone keeps some sort of certificate which indicates who uses imessage and who doesn't and this certificate gets updated every 30 days. BUT, I don't think it updates my number unless I've texted with the person recently (within the past 30 days). So people who I rarely text with will have this probelm long into the future.
It sure would be nice if apple would at least give us what they know about this issue so we could understand better how to deal with it until it gets resolved (if they are even working on it).

May 13, 2014 10:27 AM in response to jpag99by jnyce718,I am in the same boat my friend. Ive even been on 3 way calling with Apple and my service provider AT&T. They came to the conclusion that at this time there is nothing either of them can do. There is currently no resolution to fix this problem. All such attempts are just workarounds with no guarantee fix. The problem is systemic with Apple imessage... Over 30 days and it's still hit or miss if I get a message from iPhones... Group messages is even more sporadic with certain messages being left out the thread. Apple has no timetable on a fix and offers no compensation until such matters are resolved. What should we do?

May 13, 2014 12:48 PM in response to Pat518by jmatteis,So, someone earlier said getting a new number would fix the problem. If that is the case, I may just go that route. This is frustrating... although, I like the "area" code I have, and don't want one of the numbers coming now. but I am sure that I can convince my carrier to assign me a new number gratis since Apple can't get their stuff together and own up to it.

"We asked Apple for further comment but did not immediately get a response."

May 14, 2014 11:17 AM in response to artotorosby jpag99,This is and has become a public safety hazzard as most people use texting to communicate for all types of reasons. I had suspected that Apple simply does not care since you are leaving them and this article only confirms that thought. I had been an early adopter to Apple's technology and for the most part still believe but things like this turn my opinion very fast. I've got a lot of friends, they've got a lot of friends (and so on)-social media and word of mouth is a powerful thing which I'll start to use- I'll be converting my wife, mother, aunt's off the iphone within a few weeks. I will not be the only one.

May 14, 2014 11:51 AM in response to artotorosby fromsouth,Quote from article as an example of Apple discrimination of non iphone users.
"My iPhone colleagues get my texts immediately; those on Android seem to get them later, up to a few minutes behind."
Imessages get delivered over data network and that is why connection is immediate unlike regular text (SMS) message. Anything else that is in that article unfortunately is as reliable as that quote, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Free country.
If anything else in that article is written by the same person, small wonder that "Apple didn't immediately comment". Just like Sturbucks would not immediately comment on why your coffee is better question. What really impressed me is that comment and I swear it is not mine.

I have to actively use both Apple and Android. Given that the each uses a different hardware and programming environment, I am surprised that almost all of the "App ecosystems" overlap as usually any significant developer services the same app for both platforms. Transitioning quickly back and forth between the two on a daily basis can almost become virtually seamless if you can manage to use your Gmail account as your Apple ID. If anything, this article on native OS texting glitches demonstrates that independent app developers have created such overlapping App ecosystems that users take it for granted that everything such just work anywhere on any device. So for all the independent developers out there, THANKS for doing such a great job. As for iMessage, users need to understand that the app is part of iOS and NOT an independent App that "just works" wherever you want it to.
