Jun 3, 2013 8:34 PM in response to GerryK_SRby rkaufmann87,The biggest problem is you used HP's software. Good printers, terrible software!!!!! My recommendation is first check to see if your printer is compatible with the version of OS X installed on your computer which I'm guessing by your profile is 10.6.8. You can easily do that by clicking Printer and scanner software for Snow Leopard, Lion & Mountain Lion. If you find your device then following HP's instructions uninstall all of HP's software. Then restart the computer in Safe Mode to clear some caches and next re-start normally. Then click Printing Overview OS X Lion to learn how to install the printer using the Apple software. Adding a printer (assuming you follow the directions) is incredibly easy to do in OS X. Just stay away from HP apps!!!!!

What I said was to follow HPs instructions for uninstalling their software. Don't go around willynilly and pick files to put in the trash, follow the developers instructions in this case.
