The aarow in the top right, but no sync . . .

The aarow in the top right of my document shows up after I close the document, but after a few seconds it disappears and the blue bar on the bottom never shows up and the doc doesn't sync with iCloud. What's up? This used to work fine. Settings haven't changed.
