Reading the iPad Outside

Is there any product out there that would enable me to read my iPad outside in sunlight? I've seen some chatter about turning the iPad to landscape but I can't believe that would work. Ideas? Suggestions?

Thank you.

No, the iPad's screen is not meant for outside reading, though at the highest brightness, it can be readable enough.

However if you really want to be able to read confortably outside, the regular electronic ink Kindle is the better choice.

Don't know if anyone ever cleared this up - I couldn't find any other posts about this subject but that doesn't mean they don't exist - but YES! There IS something you can do to be able to read your iPad outside in bright sunshine, and it's very simple: just wear polarized sunglasses. There was an earlier post on the subject on imore.com in 2012 ("How To Use Your iPad in Direct Sunlight", April 2, 2012) if you'd like more details. Turning your iPad from vertical to horizontal (and vice versa) WILL help you see the screen better but only if you are already wearing polarized sunglasses. I just got back from a week at the beach and it does work. Hope this helps.
